This past weekend I attended a wedding in Destin, Florida. Our best friends daughter was married on May 31st on the beach! It was very beautiful. The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing and the young couple were in love! They both understood the meaning of a vow and that marriage is supposed to be a covenant between two people and God.

Gm filed for bankruptcy today which will mean that in the short run people will have some insecurity, but in the long run GM will not only survive but thrive. The truth is Chevrolet has some of the best cars and trucks on the market right now! I have never seen so many quality offerings from Chevrolet at one time. Quality and great gas mileage combine with great style and locks make the long term outlook for Chevy very promising.

The month of May is has been busy!!!! Lots of people have been in and bought cars and trucks over the last five days. Maybe the economy is on the verge of taking off!!!!!!!

Did you know the human brain weighs less than three pounds and is mainly water? Yet it is capable of speaking 130 words per minute and thinking at a rate of over 1300 per minute! At that speed it is no wonder my dreams that last for only a minute or less seem to go on and on for hours! The problem researchers tell is that 70% of our thought are negative!

Most of us are guilty of irresponsible thinking. We believe the lie that as long as we only think about something and do not act on it that it doesn't harm any one. The truth is all that negativity harms us! It is important not only what we think about every moment of every day but also what we allow to get into our minds on a daily basis. Positive thoughts make us positive people. Negative thoughts make us negative people. But before you tune this out as just another speech on positive thinking, I also invite you to consider where does positive come from? Think about that for a while and maybe we will get to it one day in another blog!

Automotive News today says the government task force wants to make GM and Chrysler have the same number of stores as Toyota in a metro area.?

The Wall Street Journal today says the government is lending billions to GMAC and may own GMAC in a few months.

???????????? Weird times in the American economy for sure.

On the bright side GM just announced "zero" percent financing on certain models!!! The weather is turning warmer and sunnier, and I get to see my grand children this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!

For immediate release May 12, 2009 – Please join KIX 106 & Performa Entertainment at Alfred’s on Beale May 21, 2009 at 2 pm as we announce the “KIX ON BEALE” line-up for 2009!

KIX ON BEALE is a FREE live concert series featuring some of today’s rising country music artist and takes place in the heart of downtown Memphis at the W.C. Handy Park on Beale Street. The concert series begins Thursday, June 18 and will continue each Thursday night thru July 23.

In the past five (5) years KIX 106 has introduced a number of up and coming artist, to the Mid-South community during the “Country on Beale” and “KIX ON BEALE” FREE concert series, that have risen to star status! Some of the previous “KIX ON BEALE” performers include today’s top artist Big & Rich, Sugarland and Billy Currington….just to name a few.

We are certain this year’s line-up consists of current rising stars and future stars in country music. This will most likely be the last time you see many of these artist FREE of charge!

KIX 106 & "Memphis" Mark Billingsley will broadcast live from inside Handy Park before each Thursday night concert from 3 - 7 pm featuring live interviews with that night’s artist.

Following each concert the artist will join the fans at the After Party at Coyote Ugly for an autograph signing session. Each fan will have an opportunity to personally meet their favorite artists up close and personal!

Good morning.... Every wonder what a blog is? How about a twitter? I do. When I was in high school no one had a calculator much less a computer. We used slide rules! Wow, how things change. The automobile business is really changing at a rapid pace. Senator Corker sent a letter out this week requesting dealers attend a meeting about the state of the industry. I will be going on May 29Th and will let you know what he says. After listening to him in December, I have not been a particular fan of Senator Corker. I do not think the government "gets" it when it comes to my industry. They are paying attention now only because the sales tax revenues that are created by the car sales is in half so their budgets are crashing in on them!

Random thoughts about the business:
Do you think that car dealers are the problem with GM and Chrysler? They do not cost the factory a dime. So how come the government wants to get rid of many of us? I realize fewer dealers will allow the few of us that are left to make more money and invest in nicer facilities. If they wanted fewer dealers why did they always replace the dealers that have left Memphis over the last ten years? Why is Gm sending out these letters now only 20 days before possible bankruptcy? Who decides who gets what and is the criteria they are using fair? Why should it be fair, life is not fair? Fewer dealers means you will eventually pay more not less for cars and trucks.... does the governement want you to pay more for the same thing??? Why?

Random thoughts about life this morning?
Why is getting up to exercise so hard? This morning around 5 it was really hard. My friend Billy says no rest for the weary......... is he right?
